Obama (!?)

It has been almost four years that I've been observing our president, Barak Obama, and I am still confused.

I must admit, one of his distinctive characteristics is his attractiveness, his ability to finds ways to relate to individuals on a personal and comfortable level. During his speeches, he often stops to respond to comments from the audience, usually in a jokingly manner that gets the audience to loosen up. In addition, he promotes himself as a great husband and father, and he frequently brings his wife and kids onto the stage for supports.  But attractiveness it's not his only strength, Obama has power. He is great at persuading his audience to believe that they must agree with him or else the world is likely to go to hell in a hand basket. He claims to be the only one that knows the right direction and gives the impression that he has the power to affect each and everyone's life individually. He also increases his power by claiming the rewards for the killing of Osama Bin-Laden, finishing the war in Iraq and many more.

However, Obama's credibility was all along his weakness. Although he successfully captures my attention and make me want to believe in his prediction, still, every time, after his speech is over, I just can't bring myself to trust him.

  1. In all honesty, that's how you should feel about all politicians. You shouldn't trust them unless you can look back into their record and see that they have supported or opposed the same things they speak on. With Obama, for example, he has lied several times, the most prevalent being the following: He said that, if the problems he was faced with were not solved in his presidency, he'd be a one-term president, yet he's running again.

  2. I absolutely agree with Christopher. When it comes to politicians who can you really trust? It is all about persuasion and trying to get you on their side. It’s kind of like how can they promise all of these things without receipts?

You’re so right about Mr. Obama. He does use a lot of jokes in his speeches and he is very well known for using phrases, lyrics, and even songs that we all know or can relate to. I enjoy his speeches. He has such a positive outlook on our country and is very confident in what he can do for this country.

  3. I also get the same feeling about Obama. His speeches are very well spoken. I think he learned the art of public speaking and utilizes all the communication tools in order to reach his goals. I also noticed he is very great about being optimistic about major issues. But like you, I still don’t trust what him. He also makes many promises which he does not fulfill. I guess with me that is where he lost his credibility. I noticed many of the laws that he wants to pass, have a hidden agenda. But he speaks so well and simplifies the seriousness of the propositions.
